Editor’s Note: Sorry about the absence of my Blog lately. Just finished a 9 day stretch of craziness at work, home stuff, Thanksgiving, and volunteering. I promise to return to the 2-3 Blogs/week pace. Mark

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:14-17

Today is my Dad’s 75th Birthday. He has spent his “second life” volunteering tirelessly in a ministry that others avoid like the plague- helping street people. He has bought and passed out over 11,000…

Trash or Treasure?

I’m sure people wonder why I have some of the possessions I do.

Like this pencil cup.

It isn’t fancy, or new or anything.  The paper is peeling off, and the bottom has ink stains.

It could easily be classified as trash I suppose.

Ah, some of you are remembering why I have some pansy items.

This little cup sat on an inlaid table made by Great Uncle Bill next to Grandmom’s favorite chair.

There was a bit of family “interest” in that table after her death.

I liked the pencil cup.  She used to keep her crochet hooks there along with her pencils and pens.

It sits next to my favorite spot now.

Those little pansy faces smile on.

Monday’s Memory – Cody

It was around this time of the year in 1998 that a little white Bichon Frise entered our home to captivate all our hearts.  He joined the pet menagerie consisting of a golden retriever, a tabby cat and a guinea pig.  He would try his hardest to wiggle his way into your affections.  He had a way of “talking” to you with is eyes.

I had always wanted a “little” dog.  One that could sit on my lap, and snuggle with me.   Cody spent the early mornings snuggled up against me during my quiet time, and also had worked his way on the bed, and slept between Craig and I until he could not longer jump up.

Cody had some internal tumors that the vet and us believed were pressing on his spine that had reached a point where it was uncomfortable for him.  In July, we said our goodbyes.

I know I’m not the only one that misses him.

I recently completed a watercolor of Cody in a pose that I like to remember him by.   This was the best our scanner would do, but I’m sharing it with you.

Sunday – Simmering in Scripture

“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.  And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating he had done.”  Genesis 2:2,3

Snapshot Saturday

In the back of my mind has been this task of finishing my picture organizing.  I started a lonnnng time ago when scrap booking first gained popularity with creating pages, and putting my photos in some semblance of order.

Then I stopped.

I didn’t take as many pictures.

I got a digital camera.

The project really took a nosedive.  With all my new photos stored electronically, and none being added to “the pile”, I didn’t really do anything with what I had.

So, while looking for a photo of my first Thanksgiving meal, and not finding it,  I thought “Snapshot Saturday” would be a good way to start going through my small stacks large plastic containers of photos.  I could organize them, and perhaps share some here.  That is, unless they are truly awful.  That might be the case.

Because it is the holidays, and I’m in a seasonal mood, I’d thought I’d share one of us from years ago at a Christmas Party.  This is when I worked at an engineering consulting firm which had various employee functions.  This shot is from one of the annual Christmas Dinners, I’m guessing around 1984 or 1985.  The color isn’t the greatest.  Like I said, there could be some awful pictures, quality included.

The company would have a Christmas Dinner and a Christmas Party.  They were different. The parties were a little livelier.   Somewhere I have pictures from a Christmas Party, I believe of a conga line.  🙂
